DISSOCIATES - Dead Language 7"

New 2 track single from London post punk DISSOCIATES Vinyl 7"

Raised in London on a diet of Fugazi, The Buzzcocks, WIRE, The Jam, the Clash and more contemporary acts such as Pulled Apart By Horses, Future Of The Left and Biffy Clyro, The Dissociates began making waves with their ‘Drown This Town’ EP in 2012.

Experiencing some critical success and with the support of the BBC Radio 1 Mike Davies show amongst others, two tours of Germany quickly followed plus countless UK appearances up and down the country. 2012 was crowned with a triumphant tour of the Ukraine ending up one crazy Saturday night in Kiev as documented by the video for their song “3 Years.”

On return they locked themselves away in their studios on the canal in Hackney and wrote 8 new songs detailing their experiences on the road and throughout their life.  “Dead Language” is the result of these sessions and deals with the experience of playing to Ukrainian and other foreign audiences who had never been to the UK yet knew all the band’s lyrics. Starting by questioning music’s relevance today (‘Is this microphone on?’), the song affirms the band’s faith in the power of music as a medium for communicating ideals across language and age barriers,

‘I can hear the drum beat from the corner of the street, talking in a language I’ll always speak’.
